 Negotiating Salary and Benefits

Dialogue 1.A: It's been such a pleasure finally meeting you face to face Mr Conners .I want to be the first to congratulate you.Our board of directors has decided to offer you a position with our conpany as director of customer relations.

B:OH,well thank you very much, i am very pleased to receive your offer.of course,i have to take a little time to consider your offer before deciding whether to accept or not.

A:Yes ,yes , of course.please take your time.Do you have any questions for us about the position?

B:Actually ,i do have a few questions. What is the salary range for the position you are offering.

A: What is your salary expectations?

B:Considering of my level experience and qualifications,I expect to be pay the current market standard.Current salary levels for this area are between 70,000 dollars and 100,000 dollars per year, and my last position ,i received 95,000 dollars per year, i expect at least as much as my last position offered.

A:Considering we are a smaller company than the last company you worked for,it may be hard to meet your expectations.We are preparing to offer you a salary of 80,000 dollars per year, plus benefits.

B:I must be honest with you, that is a big lower than i anticipated. Depending on your benefits package, i may be able to consider a salary of 85,000 dollars.

A: Our benefits package is inclusive of full medical and dental coverage for a one key contribution and stock options.

B: Was there be allowance for a relocation?

A: Yes, we will probably be able to offer allocation of 5,000 dollars for moving and relocation expenses.

Dialogue 2. A: Well, That's about all the questions we have for you. It's been a pleasure to meet you. we still have a few candidates left interview for the position ,the human resources department will get in touch with you within next week about our decision.

B: Thank you very much for the opportunity to interview. Do you mind if i ask a few questions before i go.

A:Oh of course. please do.

B: If i am selected for this position, what is the salary range?

A：For entry level position such as this one. we offer hourly rate of between 25 to 55 dollars per hour.

B:What determines are amount between 25 dollars and 55 dollars?

A:The differences determinant by educational background and by experience. Those employees with more experience and education will receive a selectly higher pay.

also the longer you are employed with us, the higher you are pay skill will be. we may star you are 35 dollars per hour.But after a year with company , you could advance to 40 dollars. Usually if the job performance is satisfactory ,we offer a yearly rates of 5 dollars.

B:Sounds great. thanks for answering my questions. i look forward to hearing from you soon.
