The story

Harvey continues to record promotional introductions for the Hale and Hearty display at the Beverage Fair. We meet Caroline, who is Douglas’s right hand person.
Meanwhile, on a flight to Sydney, a passenger, Mimi, strikes up a conversation with Lian who explains that she and her husband, Lok, are coming to Australia with the hope to expand their tea business there.
哈维继续为哈尔及哈迪食品公司在一个饮料推销大会设的展台进行宣传录音的工作。参与录音的是公司首席执行官道格拉斯的副手卡罗琳。

Communication tip
与人沟通的诀窍

Harvey lowers his voice when he wants to be taken seriously; first with Douglas, and then with Caroline. A lowered tone in many languages can change the meaning of a word or phrase. In English, a lowered vocal tone shows firmness and authority.
By lowering his voice Harvey lets his colleagues know that he is serious and expects to be taken seriously and both Douglas and Caroline respond appropriately.
在第一和第二课的对话里，哈维希望引起他人的注意时他压低了声调。您还记得吗？哈维和道格拉斯交谈以及稍后和卡罗琳交谈时都降低了声调。在不同的语言里压低声调可能代表不同的意思，不过在英语里当一个人降低其声调往往是要表现出坚定和权威性。

Here are some other common idioms to describe teasing.

to pull one’s leg – Example “ Don’t worry. I’m just pulling your leg.”
To pull one’s leg－例句“别担心，我只是和你开个玩笑而已。”

to have a lend of one – Example. “Don’t take it personally. He’s just having a lend
of you.”
To have a lend of one－例句“别太在意，他只是和你开个玩笑罢了。”
to put someone on – Example “Oh, did you think he was serious? He was just
putting you on!”
to put someone one－例句“噢，你以为他是当真的吗？他不过是和你开个玩笑而已。”
