生活英语──中暑

it has been stifling hot the past few days, making vivian sweat like a pig. strangely enough, she didn’t feel hot today. instead, she felt very dizzy and nauseous. as a result, she had to take sick leave to go to the doctor’s.

这几天热得不得了，让vivian每天都汗流浹背，不过今天她一反常态，反而没有觉得狠热，只是整个人头晕想呕吐，她只好跟公司请假就医。

doctor: where are you feeling discomfort or pain?

医生：你那里不舒服呢？

vivian: i have a bad headache and i want to throw up as well. i also feel very tired.

vivian：我头很晕也有点想吐，整个人觉得很累。

doctor: let me have a look at your medical test results. your body temperature is higher than normal! and your blood pressure is slightly low, too.

医生：我看一下检查报告，你的体温偏高喔！且血压也偏低。

vivian: i didn’t catch a cold, did i?

vivian：我该不会是感冒了吧？

doctor: by the looks of things, you probably got heatstroke.

医生：依情况来看，你可能是中暑了。

vivian: what do i do then?

vivian：那怎么办？

doctor: i’ll put you on a drip first to replenish your fluids.

医生：我先帮你打一个点滴，补充一下水份。

vivian: don’t i need to take any medications?

vivian：不用吃药吗？

doctor: there’s no need for that. your condition is not that serious. just relax here and have a rest first.

医生：你这种症状还不用到吃药的阶段。就好好放松在医院里先休息一下吧！

vivian: all right! is there anything i need to pay attention to when i go home?

vivian：好吧！那我回家后该注意什么呢？

doctor: in hot weather like this, it is best that you carry a water bottle with you so you can keep yourself hydrated. and when you’re in the office, remember not to have the air con on too strong because you can easily develop heatstroke or a cold when the temperature difference is too big.

医生：像这么热的天气，最好随身带个水壶，随时常常补充水份。还有办公室里的冷气最好不要开得太强，否则冷热温差大也容易中暑或感冒。

vivian: i see. thank you, doctor.

vivian：我知道了，谢谢医生。

doctor: you’re welcome.

医生：不用客气。
