Stroke types

Strokes are mainly classified into eight basic forms, each appearing in the character 永 and listed below.

1. 点 a simple dot

2. 横 horizontal stroke, rightward stroke

3. 竖 vertical stroke, downward stroke

4. 勾hook, appended to other strokes

5. 提 diagonal stroke, rising from left to right

6. 撇. diagonal stroke, falling from right to left

7. 短撇 short diagonal stroke, falling from right to left

8. 捺 press down, falling rightwards

Stroke Order

Writing character in the correct order is essential. The basic rules are followed:

1.先横后竖 Horizontal strokes before vertical strokes

2.先撇后捺 Left-falling strokes before right-falling strokes

3.先上后下 Top before bottom

4.先左后右 Left before right

5. 先进后关 Frame is closed with last stroke

6.先中间后两边 Center stroke before wings
