rachael wants to teach chinese in new zealand and she has been offered a job as a university lecturer. however, before she can start working, she has to pass the immigration interview. today, she has come to the new zealand immigration office for her interview.

rachael想要到纽西兰当华语讲师，她应上一间大学的讲师职位，但她在就职之前，得先通过移民局的面试。今天她来到纽西兰的移民局办事处接受面谈。

rachael: good afternoon.

rachael：午安！

immigration officer: good afternoon. i’m going to ask you some questions in a minute and i want you to answer them honestly. relax if you can.

移民官：午安！等一下会有一些问题要请你就事实与心里的想法回答，希望你能放轻松。

rachael: sure.

rachael：没问题。

immigration officer: why do you want to work in new zealand?

移民官：请问你想来纽西兰工作的原因為何？

rachael: i’ve always wanted to work in new zealand because i want to get to know the country better and also make good use of my chinese teaching experience, helping more people master chinese.

rachael：我一直向往来纽西兰工作，因為我想更了解纽西兰这个国家，也希望能够好好运用我在华语教学这方面的经验，帮助更多人习得华语。

immigration officer: do you intend to immigrate to new zealand in the future?

移民官：你未来有移民纽西兰的打算吗？

rachael: it’s not part of my plan right now. unless the university i’m about to teach at offers me a permanent position, i don’t think i’ll immigrate to new zealand.

rachael：我目前并没有这方面的打算，除非我即将到职的大学，会需要我长时间任教，到时我才会考虑。

immigration officer: have you taken any english proficiency tests?

移民官：你有取得英语相关的证照吗？

rachael: yes, i took the ielts test three years ago and got a band score of 7.5. i also took the toeic test five years ago and scored 950. there should be photocopies of the certificates in my file.

rachael：有的。我三年前有取得雅思7.5分。另外我五年前有考过多益，分数為950分，我的资料里有证照影本。

immigration officer: do you own any property in taiwan?

移民官：你在台湾是否有置產呢？

rachael: no, i don’t

rachael：我在台湾没有置產。

immigration officer: how much money do you currently have in your bank account?

移民官：那你目前有多少存款呢？

rachael: i have about nts2.2 million in savings.

rachael：我目前大约有二百二十万台币的存款。

immigration officer: do you know anybody in new zealand?

移民官：你在纽西兰有认识的朋友吗？

rachael: no.

rachael：没有。

immigration officer: are you clear on what your new job involves?

移民官：你对于你即将到职的工作内容清楚吗？

rachael: yes, very. i’ve prepared a teaching plan, which has been approved by the university already. currently, i’ll be teaching about 16 hours of class a week and i’ll be responsible for teaching beginner chinese and marking students’ homework.

rachael：十分清楚。我已准备好了教学计画，而这个教学计画也已获得大学的同意。目前是每週约有十六小时的课程，我主要是负责华语初级的教学，以及课后作业的批改。
