修理汽车

ruby was driving when her car engine suddenly shut off and wouldn’t start again. as a result, she had to call someone to get her car towed to an auto repair shop to check to see what the problem is.

ruby开车开到一半，车子突然熄火无法开动，她只好打电话请人把车吊到修理厂去检查，到底车子出了什麼问题。

ruby: excuse me, have you found out what the problem is?

ruby：请问检查出来我的车出什麼问题了吗？

mechanic: not quite. we’ve checked the circuit, but it looked fine. when was the last time you took your car for maintenance?

技师：没有狠确定。我们检查了电路，看起来应该不是机电的问题。妳上一次保养车子是什麼时候呢？

ruby: about 6 months ago? i usually have it maintained when it reaches a certain mileage.

ruby：大概半年多以前吧？我是按照哩程保养的。

mechanic: so the last time it was serviced was when it reached 125,000 miles?

技师：所以上次是……125000英哩吗？

ruby: i think so.

ruby：应该是吧？

mechanic: your car certainly has a high mileage. you could have gone around the world a couple of times.

技师：你这台车哩程数还真不少，可以绕地球好几圈了。

ruby: yeah, but i have to say, it is quite fuel efficient and doesn’t have any major problems. this is the first time that something like this has happened.

ruby：是呀！但它还满省油的，平常也没什麼问题，这种情况还是第一次。

mechanic: i’ll check the oil passage in a minute and see if there is anything wrong. i’ll also check the spark plug to see if it is igniting properly and if the air cylinder is working properly.

技师：我等会检查一下是否為油路的问题，另一方面我会检查火星塞的点火情况，跟气缸是否正常，妳可以到休息室稍等一下。

ruby: okay. that reminds me, my steering wheel has become rather stiff and heavy lately. and the air conditioner tends to give off a sour smell when i first turn it on. could you check them for me as well?

ruby：好。对了，我觉得最近开起来方向盘特别重手，还有冷气刚开啟时会有酸酸的异味，可否也帮我检查一下？

mechanic: the reason the steering wheel has become hard to turn is likely that it is out of alignment. sure, i’ll have a look at them for you.

技师：方向盘会重手应该是轮胎定位跑掉的关系，没问题，剩下的我会再帮妳检查。

ruby: all right, thank you.

ruby：好的，那就麻烦你了。
