(文化) 旗袍──优雅性感兼具的中式服装

even after a century, the iconic chinese dress remains to be widely worn.

即便过了一个世纪，人们仍狠常穿此种具代表性的中式服装。

cheongsam, or qipao, is unarguably one of the most elegant kind of chinese dresses. featuring a high collar and unique buttons, the one-piece dress is recognized for its ability to highlight wearers’ long legs and charming curves. however, back in the old days, when it was worn by women as a feminist statement and trend, the dress did not have the tight, body-hugging shape it is known for today. in fact, it was more like a robe, which is what cheongsam means in cantonese. it was not until the 1920s and ‘30s – a time often considered the golden age of the cheongsam in shanghai, that the shape became tighter.

旗袍（cheongsam或是qipao）无疑是中式服装里最為高雅的其中一种。特色為高领和独特的纽扣，此种一件式洋装被视為能够突显穿著的人的长腿和有魅力的曲线。然而，在旧时期，女性穿旗袍是作為表示支持女性主义和风潮的表徵，旗袍当时没有像现今的紧身、贴合曲线的设计。事实上，当时的旗袍更像是袍子，那正是广东话cheongsam（长衫）的意思。直到1920年代和30年代──这个时代通常被视為上海的旗袍黄金年代，旗袍的样式变得比较紧。

over the decades, cheongsam has proven itself to be more than a fad. the classic dress has managed to maintain its presence in the face of growing influence of western culture and fashion. although some have referred to cheongsam as a sunset industry, with the craft behind it slowly disappearing, tailors and manufacturers are not worried for the cheongsam is still commonly worn at evening parties and company conferences.

这几十年来，旗袍证实了自己不只是一时的流行。这种古典服装成功地流传至今，虽然面临了西方文化和时尚越来越大的影响。儘管有些人说旗袍是夕阳產业、工艺随之渐渐消失，但裁缝和制造商并不担心，因為人们仍然常穿旗袍参加晚宴和公司会议。
