翻译√：We need to acquire/gain knowledge well at school.

分析：

英语“knowledge” 表示“知识”、“学识”，是一个抽象名词，例如：他缺少金钱，但富于学问。我们可以将这句话翻译为：He is poor in money, but rich in knowledge.

在汉语中，我们的习惯搭配是“学习知识”，所以，很多人想当然地把其翻译为study/learn knowledge，但却不符合英语的习惯表达法，通常来说，“学习知识或获取知识”要用gain或者acquire来搭配，而study和learn经常是学习一样具体的东西或者事物；

常见与knowledge搭配的动词有:
share the knowledge with sb. 表示“与某人分享知识、告诉某人”
spread knowledge “传播知识”
broaden/ extend/improve/increase knowledge “拓宽知识面，增加了解”。所以，要根据不同的搭配选用不同的动词。

今日翻译例句：

她极为高兴地收下了礼物。

翻译×：She is too glad to accept the gift.
翻译√：She is only too glad to accept the gift.

分析：

虽然这两个句型只差了一个单词，但是含以上却相差甚远，句型too...to... 的意思是太...而不能...，所以说这是一个否定句式。例如：He is too excited to speak.他高兴的说不出话来。

而only too...to...的意思却是“正如所愿”“甚为...”所以没有否定的含义。
例如I am only too happy to see you again. 再次见到你，我真是太高兴了。

所以She is too glad to accept the gift的意思其实是“她太高兴了以至于不收礼物”。是错误的翻译哦。

今日翻译例句：

The wall-to-wall carpeting is used for the staircase, landings and children's bedrooms.

翻译×：那张墙对墙的地毯用于楼梯、楼梯平台和孩子的卧室。
翻译√：那张铺满整个地板的地毯用于楼梯、楼梯平台和孩子的卧室。

分析：

这里的wall-to-wall是形容词，在本句中意为“铺满整个地板的”。不要将其与face-to-face这个词组进行类比，也不要以为X-to- X的词组就一定表示“从XX到XX”哦，其实要记住wall-to-wall是表示“铺满地面的”这个意思也很简单，联想一下：铺满地面的地毯不就是严严实实置于两堵墙之间，wall-to-wall了吗？只是换个角度去思考哦。
