(technology) support for windows xp to end next month

(科技) windows xp的支援於下月终止

the ending of support could pose major security problems.

as of april 8, support for windows xp, microsoft’s longest-running operating system (os), will no longer be available. to encourage users to make the transition to its newer oss, tech giant microsoft has decided to terminate technical assistance for windows xp, including security updates that help protect users’ computers.

4月8日后，微软最长寿的操作系统（os）windows xp的支援将不再可用。為了鼓励使用者转换至新的操作系统，科技巨擘微软决定要终结windows xp的技术维护，包含保护使用者电脑的安全更新。

the decision has raised concerns for windows xp is still a widely popular system. data from web analytics firm net applications shows that the os still powers 30 percent of the computers worldwide. apart from home users, many government agencies, business companies and hospitals still use windows xp as well. although the os can still be installed and activated after the end of support, computers that run windows xp will likely become vulnerable to security risks and viruses.

此项决定引起了疑虑，因為xp仍然是个大眾广泛使用的系统。网路分析公司net application的数据显示，全世界30%的电脑仍使用xp。除了家庭用户外，许多政府机关、企业和医院也仍在使用xp。虽然xp在支援结束后还能够安装、啟用，装载xp的电脑有可能会对於安全风险和病毒不堪一击。

in regards to the problem, microsoft has suggested that users check to see if their computers meet the system requirements for an upgrade to its newest os – windows 8.1. if not, they are advised to simply buy a new computer.

关於这个问题，微软建议使用者检查自己的电脑是否达到升级至最新操作系统──windows8.1的标準。如果没有的话，建议使用者直接买个新电脑。
