翻译√：他的秘书没有主见。
分析：
yes-man是口语，意为“唯唯诺诺的人”，“无主见的人”，“应声虫”。朗文字典给出的英语解释为：
someone who always agrees with and obeys their employer, leader etc in order to gain some advantage - used to show disapproval。
总是迎合上级以图私利的人，所以这是一个贬义词。注意这个词的复数形式是yes-men
光看yes-man的字面，有可能理解成the right man或者“能干的人”这种意思；其实类似XX man的复合词还有很多，例如the right-hand man，就相当于中文里的“左右手”，只不过英文说法是只有“右手”：
例句：Max is my father's right-hand man, he took care of mum and me after dad had been put into prison.
Max是我老爸的得力助手，老爸进去之后就是他照顾我们娘俩的。
还有一个词，与right-hand man有稍稍差别：henchman，原意是为主人牵马的随从，后来引申为“忠实追随者”，Merriam-Webster词典的英文释义是：
1. a trusted follower : a right-hand man 追随者，左右手
2. a political follower whose support is chiefly for personal advantage 为图私利而在政治上追随其后的人
3. a member of a gang黑帮成员
所以上面给出的那个颇具黑帮色彩的例句，里面的right-hand man也是可以用henchman代替的哦

各家都有不可外扬的家丑。
翻译×：Every family has an ugly affair.
翻译√：Every family has a skeleton in the closet.
分析：
“家丑”通常是用a skeleton in the closet/cupboard 或a family's skeleton来表示。在美国用closet，在英国用cupboard，但是含义却是一样的。a skeleton in the closet还可以表示“不可告人的秘密”：
I don't have a skeleton in my closet. 我才没有什么是见不得人的。
He's hiding a skeleton in the closet. 他肯定有什么见不得光的秘密。
另外，skeleton这个词表示“骨架、骷髅”，还表示“瘦骨嶙峋的人或动物”。例如：
she was no more than a skeleton at the end. 我们可以将这句话翻译为：“她最后瘦得皮包骨了。”
skeleton还表示“框架，基本部分”，例如：The skeleton of the report has been finished.我们可以将这句话翻译为：“报告的大纲已经出来了。”
但是，中文里的“家丑不可外扬”，在英语中对应的短语是don't wash your dirty linen in the public，这里用来指代“家丑”的就是dirty linen，是固定的俗语，大家要好好记住哦。

干了一天的活儿后，我睡得像死猪一样。
翻译×：I slept like a dead pig after a day's hard work.
翻译√：I slept like a log after a day's hard work.
分析：
“睡得像死猪一样”在汉语中也是一种夸张的表达方法，形容“睡得很死”，而这样的比喻翻译成英语不能完全采取直译的方法，否则，在英语中起不到同样的效果。
在英语中，也有类似的比喻，只不过用的是sleep like a log， log在英文中表示“圆木、木头”，也比较贴切传神。
在英语口语中，log还经常出现于一些比较生动的表达中，比如：
1. (as) easy as rolling/falling off a log “易如反掌”
2. keep the log rolling “使工作/情况继续下去”
3. lie like a log “像木头似地躺在那里”、“不省人事”早上睡懒觉的人，就是lie like a log~
4. stand (up) to one's lick log “勇敢地应付麻烦事/承担棘手的任务”
