1.画画 ① Painting

lǎo shī jiào tónɡ xué mén huà huà ，zhī jiàn xiǎo huá de zuò yè shìyī zhānɡ bái zhǐ ，

老师叫同学们画画，只见小华的作业是一张白纸，

The teacher asked the students to paint. But Xiao Hua handed in nothing but a piece of white blank paper.

lǎo shī shēnɡ qì le:“Xiǎo huá ！nǐ de huà ne!”

老师生气了:“ 小华！你的画呢!”

The teacher went angry and asked:” Xiao Hua, where is your painting?”

“jiù zài zhè!”

“就在这 !”

“It’s right here!”

“nà nǐ huà le shén me?”

“那你画了什么?”

“What did you paint?”

“niú chī cǎo。”

“牛吃草。”

“A cow eating the grass.”

“cǎo ne?”

“草呢?”

“Where is the grass?”

“nèi niú chī le。”

“被牛吃了。”

“Eaten by the cow.”

“niú ne?”

“牛呢?”

“The cow?”

“chī wán jiù zǒu le。”

“吃完就走了。”

“It went away after feeding itself.”

2.搭车 ② Getting on A Bus

yī ɡè hǎi jūn jūn ɡuān zài ɡōnɡ ɡònɡ qì chē shànɡ ，zhàn zài sī jī páng biān bù zuò

一个海军军官在公共汽车上，站在司机旁边，不坐

xià lái ，yǐ miǎn nòng zhé yùn dé bǐ tǐnɡ de zhì fú 。yī ɡè yǒu jiǔ yìde rén shànɡ chē

下来，以免弄折熨得笔挺的制服。一个有酒意的人上车

le ，zǒu dào jūn ɡuān shēn biān ，lā lā tā de yī xiù ， shuō yào mǎi zhānɡ chē piào 。

了，走到军官身边，拉拉他的衣袖，说要买张车票。

jūn ɡuān méi lǐ huì tā 。dàn zuì hàn qiè ér bù shě ， yú shì jūn ɡuān zhuǎn shēn

军官没理会他。但醉汉锲而不舍，于是军官转身

shuō:“pénɡ yǒu ，wǒ bù shì shòu piào yuán ，wǒ shì hǎi jūn jūn ɡuān。”

说 :“ 朋友，我不是售票员，我是海军军官。”

A navy officer got on a bus and instead of sitting down he stood next to the driver so as not to wrinkle his neat ironed uniform. A drunkard got on the bus, walked to the officer, pulled his sleeves and required to buy a ticket. The officer did not respond. But the drunkard kept on trying. The officer had to turn to him and explained:”Friend, I’m not the conductor. I’m a navy officer.”

“nà me ”，zuì hàn dá dào,“bǎ chuán tínɡ xià lái ，wǒ yào dā ɡōnɡ ɡònɡ

“那么 ”，醉汉答道 ,“把船停下来，我要搭公共

qì chē。”

“Then”, said the drunkard:”pull over the boat. I want to get on a bus.”
