Smombie 在德国,边走路边玩手机的人被称为“smombie(手机僵尸)”。Smombie是smartphone(手机)和zombie(僵尸)的合成词,是指一个人在熟悉的环境里漫步,目不转睛的看着手机,对周围的环境毫无觉察。这个词在德国被评为2015年度新词。 A person who plays with his mobile phone while walking would be called a smombie. It’s a portmanteau word which combines “smartphone” and “zombie” and refers to the familiar sight of someone pottering along, eyes glued to the phone in their hands, oblivious to the world around them. The term was chosen as Youth Word of the Year in Germany in 2015. eg: Did you just see that smombie walking into the glass-door? 你刚才看到那个手机僵尸撞到玻璃门上了吗? 2. Dumbwalker “低头族”到了日本人的口中就变成了“dumbwalker”。很明显这个词是由dumb(不说话的)和walker(行走的人)合成的,意在讽刺他们的匆忙和麻木。 Japanese call those who play with their phones while walking as “dumbwalkers”. “Dumbwalker” is a compound word of “dumb” and “walker”. It is intended to satirize their haste and numbness. eg: You are a dumbwalker now. You rely too much on your smartphone. 你现在就是个低头族。你太依赖你的手机了。 3. Bowed head tribe 还有一个来自中国的词“低头族”,这并不是描写某个单纯奇异的"smombie"或“dumbwalker”, 而是指低着头看手机的一群人。 Then there’s a Chinese phrase: the “bowed head tribe”. It describes not a mere, singular smombie or dumbwalker, but a group of people stooping over mobile phones. eg: Have you ever seen the phrase “bowed head tribe”? 你见过“低头族”这个词吗? 4. Phubber 这个混合词来自澳大利亚。Phubber是由名词phone(手机)和动词snub(冷落)衍生而来。专指只顾低头看手机而冷落面前的家人、朋友的人。与之对应地,我们可以把只顾玩手机而冷落他人的现象称为 phubbing。 This blend word comes from Australia. Phubber derives from the noun “phone” and the verb “snub”. It refers to someone who just concentrate on his cell phone and turns a cold shoulder to his family and friends. Correspondingly, the phenomenon that one ignores others when playing with mobile phone is called phubbing. eg: It’s boring to stay with him. He is a phubber. 跟他待在一起很无聊。他是个低头族。 文本来源:佛山英语培训 爱德华国际英语 |
