最近发现英语里也有一个类似的说法 如果你听到歪果仁说 say uncle 你肯定很奇怪「喊叔叔」是什么鬼 其实它是认输的意思 为什么这么说呢 👇

 

 这个习语源于20世纪初学童间打闹时的口头禅

 Cry uncle when you've had enough (of a beating).

 意思是挨打够了就求饶。

 

 所以 say/cry uncle 就被引申为服输的意思 相反表示不认输就是

 never say/cry uncle Although I was beaten by him I would never say uncle.

虽然我被他打败了，但我不会认输。 其实认输除了 say uncle 这些也同样可以表达 👇

 

# I give. (这里 give = give up)

 I won't stop until you give!

你认输我就停下来。

 

 

 # throw in the towel. I'm throwing in the towel,

 

 I can't eat another bite

我认输，我实在一口都吃不下了。

 

 # wave the white flag

挥舞白色的旗子是投降的信号 所以也是认输的意思

 

 We're up by 30 points, They'll be waving the white flag.

我们领先了30分，他们马上要认输了。
