THE Fourth of July - also known as Independence Day, is America’s biggest national holiday and a time for celebration.

 Independence Day celebrates America’s independence from the British Empire. Celebrations take place on the fourth of July every year because it was on that date, in 1776, that Congress officially adopted the Declaration of Independence.
