首先夏至的英语就是Summer Solstice(the day of the year with the most hours of daylight)。

 

solstice ['sɑlstəs]的意思是：至，至日；至点。 所以说，summer+solstice就是“夏至”的意思啦！同理冬至（the winter solstice）。

之前大家有所耳闻的影视作品“夏至未至”猜猜看怎么翻译呢？ 很多人的第一反应就是“Summer solstice is yet to come”。 这么翻译当然是没错的，“未至”的意思就是“尚未到来”，我很喜欢的一句英语是这样说的： The best is yet to come. 最好的尚未到来。

 

 但是，我们参考一下官方给出的版本：Rush to the Dead Summer。 这个时候就高下立见了，Dead Summer要更加贴切。 dead这个形容词除了表示“死的”意思，还表示“全然的，完全的”。

 

 in the dead of意思是“在最……的时刻”，比如：

 in the dead of winter 在隆冬

 in the dead of night 三更半夜
