帮同事打气

Chloe and Jimmy are co-workers. Jimmy has just come back from their manager’s office, looking depressed, so Chloe is trying to cheer him up.

克萝伊和吉米是同事。吉米刚从他们经理的办公室裡走出来，看起来一脸失落的样子，所以克萝伊试著要帮他打打气。

Chloe: Are you okay? You don’t look too happy.

克萝伊：你还好吗？你看起不太开心喔。

Jimmy: I just had a long talk with the manager.

吉米：我刚刚和经理长谈了。

Chloe: I’m guessing he didn’t call you into his office for a nice friendly chat?

克萝伊：我想他应该不是叫你进办公室聊个亲切友善的天吧？

Jimmy: No, far from it. He yelled at me for handing in a poorly written proposal.

吉米：不是的，差多了。他因为我呈上了一份书写不佳的提案对我吼来吼去的。

Chloe: That’s no good. Didn’t you work really hard on it?

克萝伊：还满惨的。你不是写得很努力吗？

Jimmy: I did, but I guess it’s still not up to his standard.

吉米：对啊，但我感觉还是达不到他的标准。

Chloe: Yeah well, he has sky-high expectations, always finding fault with my work as well. Don’t take his criticism personally. He’s just doing his job.

克萝伊：唉唉，他的期望跟天一样高，也会对我的工作成果挑三拣四。别把他的批评当作是针对你。他只是在做自己份内的工作而已。

Jimmy: I feel so frustrated though. It’s like nothing I do is good enough for him. Maybe I’m just not cut out for this.

吉米：我还是感觉好低落喔。感觉好像我做的每一件事对他来说都不够好。也许我就是不适合做这行吧。

Chloe: Don’t say that! You just haven’t found the right way to go about writing proposals yet. How about you send me your proposal and I’ll give you a few pointers on how you can improve it?

克萝伊：别这样说！你只是还没找到写提案的正确方法而已。要不然你把你的提案寄给我，我来给你一些改进的小建议好吗？

Jimmy: That would be great! Thank you so much!

吉米：可以的话就太好了！非常谢谢你！
