世界杯(shì jiè bēi) refers to the great football event World Cup, while 寡妇(guǎ fù) means window. The two phrases combined together refer to the woman who has a relationship with a follower of football who pays more attention to the games than to his partner during the period of a whole month every four years.

"世界杯寡妇"是对世界杯期间受到老公冷落的女性的诙谐的称呼,有人称世界杯是男人4年发一次的集体臆症.每当世界杯来临,球迷的妻子或者女朋友就很"惨",男人们一个个扑向了电视机前,再也没有机会陪她们.
